I'm thinking this is the first public contest for the last season of LOST and it's going to be AWESOME! I just wish everyone that's a fan around the country would have the chance to get to the big party in LA.

Maybe we can start a list of party-goers here so we'll kind of "know" each other when we get there. Don't worry, I'm not a crazy stalker, just a huge LOST fan. I'll be attending the party solo since my husband will be home with the kids so I can celebrate my LOST geekdom, so I want to know someody there. :)

ReplyDeleteJust checked, and the "Important Dates" section DID state they were going to be announced today (even double checked to be sure it was 4/20/2010 and not next year).
How about an HONEST update from GCC either here or on the contest page? I can understand needing more time to review submissions, but the revised finalist announcement date was made AFTER the submission cutoff. Therefore, it would stand to reason all of the videos were in at that time. The 2 week extension was announced by the people reviewing the videos, so are they now going to miss the deadline they got to make for themselves (after missing the first deadline, which they also set for themselves)?
Not looking for a soap box, but someone from GCC could have easily provided an explanation in less than half of the time it took me to write this. A little communication goes a long way.
As someone who has never heard of GCC in the past, I can't say I'm inclined to hear anything about them in the future.
Starting to look like this whole contest was a hoax...

Haha, I only found out about the contest like four days before the deadline, so it was really a rushed video I made. I don't know how many people submitted, or when they are planning to announce the finalists, but I'm with the above commenters- I mean, come on! Tell us who is the top 20 or top 10!

ReplyDeleteI was so excited when this contest was announced and my husband, sister and I put a lot of work into our video and our theories. I drove my co-workers crazier than usual (see "The Onion" last season of LOST lol) going on about my video and how I hoped it would bring me if not a Dharma Van at least a Four-toed statue.
Now it just feels like a big waste of time and energy. And I still feel like I'm wasating time and energy every time I check the site HOPING that something has changed, but it never does.
I guess they're too busy organizing the finale party and flirting with random people on twitter

It's quite disappointing to wait nearly a month after we were supposed to find out the Top 10, especially after having to tell our viewers and peers twice that the date has been pushed back. I went for the whole 12 min on mine and hopefully it makes the top ten b/c I tried to throw in as many theories and lost elements as possible, can't get it on to youtube though b/c it says it wont take videos over 10 minutes...makes me wonder if it does make the top ten if it will be able to be uploaded here...oh well at this point so much of this just feels like a waste, good luck to all of you who also submitted :)

@River, I love the idea and it's all really funny but I was hoping more people would put more theories in their vids so I could compare with mine, and hopefully not feel as obsessed and crazy lol...the tune is really catchy though. Good luck :)
ReplyDeleteHello all!! I'm the biggest fan from Greece.I'll be in LA on 05.23!! I desperately need 2 tickets (me and my long distant relationship boyfriend!. It's very difficult being in a LDR Greece-LA. Not to mention how difficult is to watch lost alone!!!! That's why I'm flying to LA to be able to watch the lost finale with my bf. When I heard that there is also and a Jay and Jack party on that dates,I was so exciteted!!! I Think it's destiny to win the tickets. It will be my 1st lost party ever!!!! Please please please I need 2 tickets!!!

I think all of you that submitted videos are rock stars for going out and shooting something, no matter what it was, and remaining patient during this prolonged time of uncertainty. LOST FANS RULE!!!

Is it sad that I have my alarm set to go off at 12:01am on the 30th to check and see if my video made the top ten (even though they keep putting dates out there and then ignoring/changing them)?

Seriously it feels like GCC bit off WAY more than they could chew with this contest. What with multiple delays on the submission deadline, and now with all the delays in voting and getting the videos posted. My guess is that they're swamped with planning the Finale Party.

Umm considering I overnighted a video to make the deadline I still "give a rats" you know what about this contest. I'd like to see what my time energy and money were worth whether I make the top ten or not, and that's why it's so dissapointing that they won't give updates or put up sneak peeks or anything.

Man, there are sure a bunch of whiners out there. My video wasn't selected either, but that's probably because it sucked! Honestly, they announced this contest months ago, and I like probably a lot of other people threw it together a few days before the deadline. I think it's amazing that Global Cash Card is putting this whole thing on. And showing the final episode at the Orpheum? For free? Do you have any idea what that must cost? I for one am applauding all they have done. Sure the videos were posted a bit late but we have no idea what was going on behind the scenes. I can see why they selected the videos they did. They're pretty good. A lot better than mine. Quit the whining!
ReplyDeleteWow, I was shocked to see my video actually made the top 10! I had so many technical difficulties with it, it was really a horror to make. I was going out of town and I had only a few days to pull it all together.

Does anyone know how they are doing the voting? Is the internet voting just a part of it? Is it likes vs. dislikes? Personally the disliking thing sucks. I think the vote should be a part of it, and then Jay and Jack have a part of it, with the Global Cash Card folks.

Hi - I'm Dave LaBonte and I work with AdMatrix, the ad agency that is helping Global Cash Card with the contest and party. YouTube recently changed their whole website including the voting process which really threw us a curve. The way the voting is being done is only the thumbs up count. The thumbs down do not count against you. Believe or not, some people might try to sabatoge others score. So, bascially, the video that gets the highest number of thumbs up wins.

ReplyDeleteI'm sure Scott (or is that Steve), Sara and I would disagree LOL...actually I liked all the videos for different reasons, but there are tons of videos with creativity (Scott's in particular with the pretty neat animation).

KRISTYKAY D - I KNOW what a great idea. That song is an original by a band "The Tunnel Kings"...the lead singer was the brainchild of the video, apparently, with back up from the band. Global Cash Card should invite the band to play and the entire crowd could say a tearful "Good Bye" to a group dance to "IT'S BETTER IF WE LET THE WHOLE THING GO". She's right, start your moves..get the band to play....but first get everyone you know to vote!

ReplyDeleteWhat? Bashing the show/producers by saying the writers have no idea what they are doing? Sorry, but I don't agree with this statement.
I thought their idea was creative, but the song seemed a little derogatory over-all, but that's just my opinion.
The other contestants have all put in a good effort, so I don't think someone should write up here on this official blogspot who to vote for, because that's just rather disrespectful to all the other contestants and their entries. It's cool if you disagree, but personally, I see that as bad sportsmanship.
Friendly and Supportive competition benefits everyone. Finalist 1 & Finalist 5 are decent dudes. No Bashing!

ReplyDeleteSince no one has mentioned it, I laughed so hard at contestant #4. Their video made me think of the last episode with the MiB being punched and knocked over so easily!

I'm sad the couple teams that played it straight haven't gotten more press. 3 and 6 both both did good jobs capturing the show with live actors. I guess it's the story of the internet for "viral" videos to get all the press (vlogs, music videos). Not that the funny ones didn't have good moments; they just didn't step up as much in my opinion.
